I'm back, hopefully for longer this time

Fri Jul 3, 2009, 11:57 AM
  • Mood: Hungry
  • Listening to: Rent - I Should Tell You
  • Reading: Deadpool comics
  • Watching: Soon to be watching Dokoru-chan
  • Playing: FALLOUT 3, MY LATEST OBSESSION
  • Eating: Soon to eat bangers and mash
Yes, I'm back again after an extended absence. Yes, I'm promising to start writing soon AGAIN. This time will be different, though, I mean it! My creative juices have started trickling again (ew, sorry for the image) and, crucially, I HAVE TIME NOW as it is summer and I has not teh jobs.

What finally got me in the mood to write again? A throw-away comment at the philosophy department open day I was helping with. One of the professors mentioned something that got me thinking. After a chat with my girlfriend, the original idea got modified, built upon, expanded and ultimately pretty much sidelined as a macguffin - and before I knew it, we were fleshing out a novel! Dream come true for me, as I was worried I only had short stories in me =p

I'm also incredibly excited about a project I'm working on for my Science Fiction and Fantasy Society - a newsletter/publication designed to showcase the creative talents of our members, who will be able to submit fiction, poetry, artwork, reviews and pretty much anything else. It'll be by members, for members and occasionally about members, and it will be AWESOME! I intend to write a story for it.

I also intend to do some cosmetic work on 'Who Knocks Without', as I re-read it and it's a bit ... erm ... well, it's a bit pants. I like it, but it could be better. There's pacing troubles that need addressing, for a start. So, watch this space, a new version of that will hopefully be forthcoming!

In other news, not very much happening. Had some relationship hiccups, broke up with my girlfriend for a bit (10 days =p) but we're back together and working out our problems. Finished the second year of my course and will progress to the next, so yay me! Things seem to be looking up.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me, and thank you especially to everyone who continues to do so - cheesy though it is, I love you all, and hope my future work doesn't disappoint :) I may not be a literary genius, but I write for you and people like you, so everything you say means a lot to me. Stay happy!
